Which really doesn't meant anything other than in twelve rows the socks are gonna get wicked boring. Today, I'm going to my mom's house for this labor day thing, and I'm taking loksins even though at 3 is the end of their 48 hours (or was that yesterday at 3? Man I'm bad at this...) and I'm also taking Icarus because, even though it's getting bigger... it's actually really good travel knitting. I mean, I don't need to look at the pattern for about... 3 hundred added stitches lol. Anyway, that's it for now. Gotta go get ready for this damn dreadful dentist appointment... keep your fingers crossed for me!

Loksins update, and Emmy and I
Ok, so I finished the heel flap and I turned the heel on Loksins number 1. I'm working on the gussets now. See?
Alright so that's a horrible, horrible picture. Here are some better ones.
Or... at least it's a good picture of Emmy... ok, HERE'S a better picture. It's just Emmy. Much better lol.
Emmy and I hung out today and we took about a hundred pictures of ourselves together before we finally realized it wasn't going to work and we needed Dave to take pictures for us. So that's how these pictures happened. I'm gonna go work some more on the gussets and watch some TV.

Ok, so I am FINALLY switching to a new project. I decided yesterday to give Icarus one more day... namely because I love it so much that I couldn't put it down. I decided to give something else a turn today because I was afraid I'd get burnt out on Icarus... and that would be horrible. I mean, I love it so much... Anyway, so today's 48 hours is all about Loksins. I started these a LONG time ago... and got distracted. So now I'm finishing. It says to do 9 pattern repeats before the heal, and I only did three, because I don't like my socks that long. I'm working on the heel flap now. Wanna see? Too bad. I'm not takin a picture because it looks almost exactly the same as it did before. I will, however, show you the old picture of it.

Time for something new
Ok, so at the end of 72 hours with Icarus (I gave it more than 48 because it deserved it... after all, I didn't spend much time with it the first 48...) it looks... pretty much the same as it did before, only bigger with more pattern repeats. So I didn't bother with a picture. I don't know how I'm going to spend time away from Icarus. I mean... I love the yarn so much... it's so soft... seriously, you have to try Jaggerspun Zephyr. It's amazing. Anyway...
I got some new partylite in the mail yesterday. Meet the partylite global fusion multi votive centerpiece. It's the new piece for 2007. Here is is on my TV, which is it's at least temporary home...
And here it is lit. It's so pretty... i love it. A lot.
Okay, now, on to 20 more minutes with Icarus... and then loksins. Then, after 48 hours (or 2, depending on how long I can keep myself away from Icarus...) I'll probably go back to it. Or maybe I should work on my mystery stole...

My 48 hours with Icarus...
... Looks like this.
That didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Or even as well as I had figured it would go (which was bad...) this is all I have. I still have till 3 tomorrow... but I think I might give it another day. I've been having tooth pain so bad I wanted to die. Not to mention the pain in my ass that I live with... we're not going there. Yesterday we had tornado warnings and sirens going off. Here's a picture of the sky before the sirens went off...
Then later, I took a video of these rotating clouds. It won't let me post it on blogger... but I was ready to boogie on into the interior hallway of my apartment.

At the Zoo again, part 2
Ok, so this is the last seriously picture heavy post for a while, I promise. These are the rest of the pictures from when Emmy and I went to the Zoo. Firs,t the grizzly bears. There's two of them here.
It looks like just one doing something weird with it's body and head or something... but it's really two. You can see them better here.
These guys are just... huge.
Here's a picture to see how big their feet are. My hand doesn't even cover half of it.
We also saw Mexican wolves, but no Timber Wolves. I found this really interesting cause I got to watch their body language and know what it means. I think she was the alpha female. When the others approached her, they had their tails and ears down.
This guy was seriously close to the glass. When I moved I spooked him.
And this one is just being cute.
Look! A big kitty! (I think it's a puma...)
And here's the Rhino. There was also a Rhino outside but he blended in with the wall so I didn't take his picture.
And here's Bodhi, the baby Elephant. I took lots of pictures of him because he's so cute. I'm not gonna caption all of them. He was the only elephant we saw though.

Stealing from the Harlot
I'm stealing an idea from the yarn harlot here. I think I'm going to spend 48 hours with each project. So, I started working on Icarus today at like, 3, so I'll work on it until Monday at 3. Then I'll work on something else (maybe I'll split two days up with something excessively boring, like, the multi-directional and noro scarves). Then in 48 hours maybe I'll work on a pair of socks (say, loksins... seriously, haven't worked on them in ages...) or maybe I'll start my mom's christmas present socks (Yeah right, like I have another 25 dollars to spend on sock yarn this month... I just spent 40 dollars on Icarus for pete's sake...) So, I thought I'd post really quickly to see how that works out. Probably horribly... but let's do this thing.
My new addi turbos, and when not to work on lace
So, yesterday, after getting my yarn in the mail and finding that it was the same size (almost exactly) as my merino-oro, I decided to go ahead and use size threes on Icarus, just like they say. I mean, I already know I like the look of it. The problem: here's a list of the size threes I have. One pair 3 three 16 inch addis (In MS3). One pair of size three straight needles (in the party lace scarf) and one pair size three dpns (Which obviously I can't use on this project...) So... I bought some addi turbo lace needles. And I LOVE them, with their red cable and gold needles and they're so pointy and perfect... I bought them from the yarn market which is right down the street so I don't have to worry about shipping. (By the way-they let me see their warehouse and let me just say... Oh. My. God.) Last night I caste on and worked the set up rows for the chart. I love the feel of this yarn, it just glides through my fingers and it's so soft... I love this project.
See the needles? Aren't they gorgeous? And here's a close up of the... pathetic 8 rows I have done on Icarus.
And now, for the second part of my post. It's short, but I think you get the point. Never ever, under any circumstances, watch a scary or intense movie while knitting lace. Ever. I'm gonna go work on Icarus now.
