Icarus!

I just had to post really quick... I wish you could all see the beauty that is this yarn. No, not see it. FEEL it. Oh, God, so soft... so... mmm... Here's what I saw when I opened the package...

And the yarn out of the baggies...

And look, they sent me a price list and color card...

I'm in love with this yarn. Must... buy... lace... needles...

At the Zoo again, part 1

Yeah, I know, most people don't give a flying rat's... most people don't care about my zoo pictures, and there are a lot of them, but I thought I'd post them all anyway. So I'm breaking this post up. I think two posts should be good. So, let's boogie. First, Fluffy.

Yes, Fluffy. Fluffy is a 24 foot long, 300 pound reticulated python. Here he is.

Yep. That's fluffy. Here's a close up.

These guys are some kind of monkey... I don't remember what kind. Anyway, when we were there last week we saw a bunch of them fighting. This week, there was a baby. I don't know if it was there last week, but I don't remember it. When they're first born they're orange. See?

It was hard to get a good picture... he kept moving. Anyway, we saw manatees. There are two of them. These guys are so cool. They swim so slow...

In this one you can see Emmy's reflection in the glass.

See her? In the tank with the manatees are sting rays.

Those are the things that killed Steve Irwin. They're so gentle looking... they look like they're flying underwater.

Hmm... let's see... oh yeah, the moose! When we were in Maine I saw Moose in the wild. I didn't get such good pictures though. These three females were on one side of the cage, and the male was on the other.

Those two were hogging all the water...

Then there was the male. He was incredibly close to where we were. It was cool.

Here's a close up of him.

Then, of course, I got the pic of the swan, ya know, for MS3. Swan Lake.

He was so pretty... I also got a pic of the bobcat. But he's hiding and you can't see his face so you have to take my word for it.

I got his picture cause I'm a bobcat now. Ohio University bobcats. And of course, the lion. Alll we saw was him, the girl was hiding somewhere. He looks super skinny...

But his face is so cute!

And here's Emmy and I! Here's Emmy with the baby elephant statue...

And Emmy on the bears...

And me on the bears!

Anyway... for knitting content. Sorta. I'm starting Icarus this weekend. I'm making it with Jaggerspun Zephyr, like they suggest in the patter. I'm making mine with the color claret, and Addi Lace needles. I'll definitely post pics as I get going!

Stash organization

Yesterday, David and I were cleaning and I decided to go through my stash, take pictures, and put stuff on ravelry. So I took a before picture

Which is... everything. my stash is shoved into boxes and wips are shoved in and stuff is all out of order and see that purple striped bag? That's full too. Not much a stash but... give me a break, I just started knitting in like, January. Anyway, I know it's pathetic but... anyway, then I went through it and put the wips in the three middle shelves, some stash and needles and other crap in the bottom, and my scissors and stitch markers and... stuff like that in the top shelves. See?

Then the rest of the stash (by the way, the purple bag is empty now... what to do with it... hmm maybe shawl keeping?) is in this box, all cozy. Go ahead, laugh at the patheticness.

Ipods and noro

Thought I would post quickly and show everyone my new ipod shuffle, and it's accessories. It even came with a little (machine) knitted sock... but the sock, obviously, is giant sized. That's ok, I would rather make my own. It's pink! I like pink.

And you can also see the scarf I started yesterday for my sister-in-law, Nancy. It's a wave pattern, I found it here. Alright that's a lie. Angie found it there. That doesn't capture the true color but... it's pretty close. I'm making it with this...

It's Noro Kureyon color 147. I bought it from The Yarn Market which just happens to be right down the street from me, so I was able to buy it online but go pick it up. I thought it was relatively inexpensive. Here it is! The lightest green is actually a bright emerald green color, the rest of the colors look about exact.

"Wait," you say. You have a new pink ipod, and noro? This must be the best day ever!" Well... you're right, it is.

At the Zoo! (Warning-This post may be picture heavy...)

So, yesterday my mom and I took my nephews Austin (7) and Zach (3) to the Zoo. We had so much fun. Well, except for the part where Zachary was a brat... but that's par for the course. So, here is our day in pictures. First, I met them all at my mom's house, where I got a picture of his missing front tooth (plus one sticker, on his forehead... honestly, kids...)

Then we left (a little late) for the Zoo. A 45 minute drive in which I did NOT, I repeat, did NOT knit, followed, and then, yay, we were at the Zoo. (Following, of course, a 10 minute walk from the car...) We wanted to see the Asia animals. Unfortunately, we didn't see many. We did see the elephants, but I didn't get a picture because it was too dim in there... I didn't think you could see it. I did, however, get a couple of pictures of the Tigers.

Oops... that one wasn't the best. Here.

That's better. Here's Austin and Zach playing on the tiger. Not the real one silly.

We walked through the pheasant area (yes, my mom did too... ok, I lied and told her we had to. We didn't have to. But it was funny...) And, look, a pheasant... we actually were that close to him. This is not using the zoom feature.

He got really close to me and mom was like "I was scared he was going to get you." She's a goober. Next, we saw the indoor aquarium, and then the manatees. I didn't get a picture of them, there were too many people there. But I got a picture of a shark that looks like a hammerhead, but it's really not.

Mom got a picture of the three of us on the carousel. Music creeped me out more than you could know... but it was still fun.

Here's a random picture of some animals feet prints (I just think this is cool.)

And then we actually saw some animals. Namely, the gorillas. (Angie, look away. Or, no wait, they're fun pictures. Ok... look but pretend they're just animals in the zoo behind glass.) This first guy is Austin's favorite. He was making a funny face at us.

This guy looks like he's high or something. He just sat there the whole time.

This one was my favorite. He was right up against the glass, (next to a sign that said "The gorillas are aloud to bang on the glass. You are not." That amused me a LOT for some reason...) and then he licked it, and I got a good picture of it.

Ok, a semi-good picture of it. This monkey was an adolescent. He was fun. He was trying to carry a ball up the fence. All the way. He dropped it. But then he walked past us...

And then he picked up a bunch of hay.

Then he carried it into his hammock.

And made himself a bed.

Isn't that the cutest thing ever? I thought it was...Then, there was this baby and I think that might be it's mama. The baby was swinging from the fence here...

Then, it got too close to the mama and she swatted him. It was funny. Here's a close up of her.

Anyway, then we went to the gift shop and went home. Oh, wait. So we're walking to the car and I saw the cutest photo op. There were these signs and so....

Aren't they the cutest? Then, Austin stayed the night at my house. This, ladies and gents, is the kid who last time he saw Storm screamed and jumped onto the couch or into the arms of the nearest person.

Aw, crap, I just realized I didn't get any pictures of Zach by himself... oh well, maybe next time... Anyway, I had to take Austin to my mom's house this morning cause I didn't think Becky and Billy were up yet (I tried to call but they didn't answer...) and I had to take Mattie to the vet because she was throwing up all night. She's ok. She has a severe ear infection and it was so painful it made her sick. Poor baby. She's sleeping in her crate now. For my credit, she didn't start shaking her head or anything until yesterday. I mean, how am I supposed to know that it itches or hurts? Anyway, that's all for now. Later- My new Ipod shuffle and pics of my new project.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

Today's post is sponsored by the color red, in honor of my super cool incredibly, unbelievable, super exciting news. So I'm all excited, thinking that I get to see Hanson in Cleveland at the house of Blues (something I'm still seriously considering... I'll go by myself. I don't care. Really.) in September. So this morning, I'm on Hanson.net, and I accidentally click on the link that takes me to the tour dates. So I decide, hey, I'll check to make sure they haven't like, sold out or something.... and then, I see it. They're going to be at THE NEWPORT!! For anyone who doesn't know, that is this club on OSU Campus and it's like, a really special club like, not just anyone can play there.... but... they are going to be HERE, in COLUMBUS!!! (By the way. Red, in honor of The Walk, their new CD... being red. Ya know?) I'm so seriously freaking going. Seriously, never been more excited in my whole life. I actually screamed out loud when I saw that. I mean, I've NEVER gotten to go to a Hanson show. And now I could go to two? Oh, god. I have to go. I can not wait.

And, for knitting content. The scarf is officially 36 inches done. I love it. Don't you?

Don't you just love my priorities. I mean, I love knitting don't get me wrong... but I've loved Hanson longer....

I missed my sws!!!

So Angie recently did a scarf out of her sws... and it only took her like, two days (she sucks...) but you can see it if you want. Anyway, she kept talking about it so much, and she's so contagious, that I had to get mine out. Introducing the scarf I started yesterday (Yes, just yesterday... apparently it moves A LOT faster than lace weight. Who knew?) It's the multi-directional scarf, I found it on ravelry. Anyway, I'm working on it with my patons sws in the "Natural Pink" colorway. I find it very... soothing and comforting. Ya know, compared to the other projects I'm working on, all which involve either lace or tiny needles... or both. Anyway, I took two pictures of it, hoping that one of them captures the color right. They're both pretty close, but I'll go ahead and post them both anyway. You know why? Because I can! Muah ha ha!!! Oh, right. Ahem. Anyway, here they are.

And, for good measure... look how cute my little Mattie is!!

*Added later: Do NOT click on those pictures to see them up close. You do NOT want to see the dog hair on my couch... it's CRAZY! :)
