P.S. To "Project Monogamy"

Yeah, I forgot to mention this earlier, but, I'm NOT actually only working on Icarus. My in the car, out, or at the computer knitting is still my mom's socks, don't worry. I won't let ya'll down. But... what exactly am I supposed to work on tomorrow when I go out to eat with my mom... ah, shit, looks like I need another sock. Darn. *snaps fingers in mock disgust* Oh well... :)

Take a minute to make someone's day

Hey everyone, just wanted to tell you all to check out this website. Freerice.com. For every word you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice through the UN to help end world hunger. It doesn't sound like much, but in like, a half hour or less, I got enough words for 1250 grains of rice. It's easy, because if you don't know, you can guess. So, do you have time to help feed someone who's starving to death? You don't even have to register. Come on, you know you want to know just how many words you know. Just do it. :)

Project Monogamy

That's right, I said it. From now until the end (of the project) I am working on nothing but Icarus. To be completely honest, I should've done this a while ago. I mean... I'm getting actual progress. You know, when I'm not sitting staring at it or playing with it... I can't WAIT until it's finished and I can block it.. it's going to be HUGE and I'm so excited. I am just about finished with the first ball of yarn. I should only use a little of the second ball, which means there is a very pretty lace scarf or something in someone I love's future... Here's a close up of the detail because it's sooooo pretty... hmm... maybe... ya know it's really hard to get a decent detail picture... Ok! There we go.

I also have for you all a nice picture of the whole thing... well, as nice of a picture as I can take with it still on the needles... It's BIG.

And a picture of the little bit of yarn left just because I'm amused easily by my digital camera.

Besides all that knitting, here's the other thing I've been doing lately.

That's right, writing. This picture also illustrates just how important fingerless gloves are. My hands get COLD when I type so... there ya go. That's all for now. You should go check out Angie's page. I hear she's blogging today. Right Ang? :)

The difficulty of photographing one's own... hands

Ok, so not much to blog about. I finished the first fetching last night, and cast on immediately for the second one (aren't you proud of me? Screw second insert knitted item here syndrome! Ha!) And I finished the second one today, and I wove in the ends and everything. I tried, multiple times, to take a picture myself of both of my hands, and let me tell you right now... it's not possible. So, here's a picture of one of my hands...

Now, if you go to the pattern, on knitty, you'll see that the cables are supposed to twist "fetchingly" toward the thumbs. Look closely at the cables. Can't see it? Here, here's a close-up.

Notice, if you will, the way all the cables... are... the same. Yeah, I screwed up. I did the cables late late late late late at night and I didn't notice that I was doing them the same. *facepalm* Ok, well... I love them anyway. :)

Knitting, finishing, and writing, oh my!

Ok, so I have more actual knitting content for you. This just shows you how much I have no life. But that's ok, really. First off, yesterday I showed you my finished Calorimetry. I thought I'd show you some live action pictures. First, my new display picture is one. Then, there's this one...

Which I love because it showcases how it looks on your head. Then there's this one...

Which shows two things. One, it's very wide (5 inches!) and two... I like taking pictures. :) So, besides that, I've also finished another project! It would be Branching Out! I made it for... well I can't tell you that, she might read this blog! But, it's in Patons SWS in Natural Navy. It's not very long unblocked, but blocked it'll be about 64 or 65 inches, and that's just perfect. Here it is.

That's MUCH better. Or... well, that's better lol. But wait, there's more! I also cast on for a pair of Fetching, from Knitty. I'm using size 8 dpns (the biggest I've ever used lol) and it feels funny but that's ok. I would've gotten gauge with my size 6's but... it didn't look right. So I had to take out one cable pattern. I thought it'd be too big but it turns out it's just a little big, and I don't want it to be snug because I may be allergic to sws... wouldn't that be horrible?? Anyway, here it is on.

And here it is again! Aren't the needles crazy weird colored? I thought so...

Anyway, The beginning is a lot of blue with is just awesome because I looooove that blue color. I think I'm just going to make these fraternal though, because I don't feel like going through the effort required to make them identical. Anyway, that's all for knitting content. See the little box in the back of that last picture? That was what my birthday present from Dave's mom and dad was in. They gave me a little gold cross pendant. It's very pretty. Too pretty for everyday wear. Right now for everyday I wear the cross Angie gave me a couple years ago for Christmas. It's silver and I love it. The original chain got broken, but I bought a new one for it. Ok, so now that I'm done rambling about stuff no one cares about... I do have other news!

Are you ready for it? Ok. I'm going to write a book. Well.. maybe a book. I think I have enough to go on for a book. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Angie told me to do NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing month. I was thinking about it but... I dunno, I'm not quite ready. It would take me probably a couple of weeks just to do prewriting. So I think I'm just going to do it at my own pace. In any case... That's all the updates for now. Back to knitting!

Quickie Project

So, tonight I decided to cast on for a Calorimetry, from knitty. Three hours of knitting later, ta da!


This was the best thing I could think to do after a rough few days, and all the long, long projects (scarves, Icarus, socks...) that take at least a few weeks, I decided I needed some instant gratification knitting. So there it is. I even sewed on a button! Yes, I did that before blocking. I'm not going to block it too much, but hopefully it opens up a little. The part with more blue was supposed to be the part in the front, but the bind off, even though I did it LOOSELY and in pattern, is a little too tight for it to be worn that way. Or... maybe it's just a really cool Christmas present. I don't know, but I do know I'll be getting more of this yarn. It took less than half a skein! That's just... cheap and awesome! I used patons sws in natural blue. Here it is with the button showing. Like it?

By the way, I did a drawing for the contest, and, I know it sounds fixed, but I kid you not, Angie won! Angie, let me know what color you like, ok? :)
